Lamborghini offers the Asterion LPI 910-4

Asterion LPI 910-4

Exotic cars have long been the top of the mountain when it comes to over the top power and performance. The changes in technology have brought many of the exotic models to a place where technology is just as prevalent as the performance of a car. This gives them a leg up over many other cars and allows these cars to take advantage of the advances in weight reduction such as aluminum-laden and carbon-fiber body parts as well as the turbocharging and supercharging that has been put in place. Some exotics have even found the benefit of having hybrid technology aboard to gain the top torque and speeds possible.

As a part of the VW Group, Lamborghini has recently found the most success it has ever had in its long history and the super exotics offered have been built with some of the greatest technologies around in order to give owners some of the most remarkable driving possible. The new Asterion LPI 910-4 is no exception to this. With the VW Group (German) taking Lamborghini (Italian) under its tent, the attention to detail that has been missing from Lamborghini is now present and this model showcases much of this.

The Asterion is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 and has a ton of carbon-fiber construction in order to be the lightest weight possible. The addition of three electric motors to this car give the name (which means Minotaur) much more relevance and this takes advantage of today’s hybrid technology allowing the car to show up with 910 horsepower overall which is one of the highest power outputs it’s possible to have. This size engine typically gives only a meager fuel mileage, but the inclusion of the hybrid motors allows the Asterion to achieve a 57 mpg due to the 31 mile all-electric range that is present.

As for performance, this car can reach sixty mph in only three seconds and the top speed is right around 200 mph. This car competes in the GT category because it does have added weight, even after the weight reduction technology, but having the electric motors certainly helps this car do exactly what is desired of it.

As Lamborghini moves forward and we see more proof of having the Italian cars with German engineering and influence we will get the pleasure to witness this marriage continuing on. It will be very interesting to see if the VW Group somehow increases this movement toward its more affordable vehicles that the masses drive and not be kept in the super exotic realm.
