Maybe some of these gauges aren’t quite as elegant as you might think, but they are pretty interesting and the way gauges have been set up over the years in different cars gives you more ways to see what you want to know. Each car offers you something that looks a bit different that your typical gauge cluster and these are some of the ones that you can certainly enjoy looking at and being able to understand exactly why the gauges have been put together the way they have to give you the information you want.

McLaren P1 – This gauge cluster is made to give you the function you need when on the track. Forget about what you might want to know when you’re on the road, this car is made for the track and you can program the track layout into the gauges to let the GPS track your progress around the course while also enjoying the huge display with the tachometer to help you maintain engine control.

Audi R8 – This is one of the most advanced reconfigurable gauge cluster on the market and it certainly fits in well in the R8. You can have the screen set up to be a large tachometer with the speed in the center when you’re on the track or you can have the whole screen turned into a map when you take the car out for a spin on the roadways that you might not be familiar with.

Subaru XT Turbo – Even though this car is no longer on the market, it carried one of the most impressive gauge clusters from the time. This car offered a 3D effect of a car on the road and even the steering wheel was different with a pistol look to the center of the wheel and two buttons next to the horn for some added controls that you might need. You could easily enjoy the look of this unique car.

Vector W8 – From the 1990s, the Vector W8 was one of the wildest cars of the time and the gauges are complex enough to make you feel as if you have to be a pilot in order to understand what this car was trying to tell you. This was one of the most informative gauge setups to that time and if you understood them, you had a lot of information at your disposal.

Lamborghini Reventon – This is a gauge cluster that was inspired by fighter jets, even offering the horizon line to help you keep the car planted on the ground. This set of gauges offered you all the information you want in a simplistic, but advanced form that takes someone who understands them to be able to drive the car.

Chevrolet Corvette C4 – This was the car that was designed to bring the Corvette forward and make it a leader on the market once again. The gauges used were digital and gave impressive readouts which was certainly cutting edge for the technology of 1984. They may look like something you would think of as the dark ages, but at the time it was a huge step forward.

Honda S2000 – Some gauge clusters that are impressive are also simple. This one offers a large tachometer with the digital speedometer pictured under it. This is an easy to understand cluster that was inspired by the F1 cars to give us the feeling of a car that was born and bred for the race track, which the S2000 certainly was.

Lexus LFA – This attractive circular gauge was perfect for the car and offered digital everything to make it easy for you to read and understand. With the white background on the tachometer, your attention is drawn to where the needle points to make sure the engine isn’t revving too high and will continue to allow you to lead the way.

Buick Reatta – For 1990, this was the most advanced and impressive gauge cluster you could find. Everything was digital on the screen and laid out in a way that reminded you of a traditional set up with other vehicles. This display makes for a gorgeous way for you to know what’s going on with the car and still enjoy the Buick luxury.

Ferrari LaFerrari – here is a car that has several different settings for the gauges and the coolest one is the one that is used for the Race display. Shaped like a hockey stick you can see where you should be in the tachometer for the best performance and get this car to the speed that will make others shake as the car passes them by.
