11.30.16 - Rogue One

Anyone familiar with the Star Wars brand and characters that are shown on the silver screen know all about the power of the Force in these movies. The Force is depicted as a life power that controls every living creature in some way and those who harness the power of the Force, the Jedi and the Sith, are capable of many amazing feats that defy gravity and normal life. As one of the most profitable and successful franchises in the world Lucasfilm will team with five brands to help promote those brands and the new film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

This is new territory for the Star Wars franchise as the movies that have been shown previously were all built off the previous movie to make a complete series. This new offering will be the first of a series of standalone stories that will make their way into movie theaters later this year. While this is a new venture for the Star Wars franchise you can bet this will be a huge hit at the box office and show up as another fan favorite that breaks more records than it ever has.

One of the partners for the new Star Wars movie is Nissan. The other four are Duracell, General Mills, Gillette and Verizon, each of which will have their own custom campaign for the program in order to help create the tone of the movie. Nissan has a unique in with this particular Star Wars movie because they already have a vehicle that plays directly into the name of the film with the Nissan Rogue SUV. This certainly makes the work for the advertising team of the movie a little easier to give them the ability to create an amazing campaign based around the name.

How exactly the name will be played up for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has yet to be shown, but I can only imagine what this film team can do with a vehicle that already carries the name of the film. You may see the Nissan Rogue decked out in the garb of the movie to carry the theme the way we love to see it in order to give us a glimpse of what to expect with this amazing title. Certainly this could be a great transport vehicle on some of the far reaching planets that have been modernized, but we’ll see soon exactly how Lucasfilm plans to use the Rogue in their advertising.

For Nissan this marks a huge partnership that will no doubt help to improve the brand recognition for them. If this new release and campaign looks anything like the one that was used for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the FCA models that were shown, Nissan is in for a great ride down a slope full of success and continued excellence. With Nissan and Lucasfilm partnering together, there’s no doubt the Force will be strong in this relationship.
