Protecting a Classic Investment

When you own a classic car that has a lot of value, either financially or personally, you want to make sure you can have this vehicle protected from a potential thief when you park it or when you leave it for any period of time. If you know you’re driving a car that others will think of as a valuable model, those who are without morals will likely target your classic ride for their own benefit and gain. If you don’t have a way to protect your car, you may be left without the vehicle you’ve invested a lot of time, care, and money into.
In Europe, the classic cars that come from some of the most respected names in the industry are more widespread, but that doesn’t stop people from wanting to steal these cars and sell them off for parts or to a company that will ship them out of the country or off the continent to a place where you’ll never see the car again. Porsche has come up with a solution that can work well with a classic vehicle that you drive from this company in order to make sure your car can be protected.

The New Porsche Protection

This new system that can offer you the protection you want and need is called the Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System which uses a package of autonomous sensors that are integrated at a variety of concealed points on the vehicle. The purpose of this system is to help keep your vehicle from being taken away from you and these sensors communicate with a security network that covers all of Europe. This system will send alerts to a security base if the battery is disconnected or the car is stolen, making it easier to track and eventually locate.
By using this system, the app you use on your smartphone can pinpoint the location of the vehicle that has the sensors and saves the route data of where the vehicle has gone to reach the point that it reaches after being stolen. This system can also help if you’re lending your vehicle out or allowing a potential owner to take a test drive. It does this by creating a “geofence” to make sure the car doesn’t leave a specified area that you’ve allowed for the person who is driving it without you present.
Right now, this feature is able to be used on Porsche models from the 365 to the Carrera GT and its available for purchase starting in the Spring of 2018. While only offered in Europe right now, this could be an app that will eventually be used in North America to allow those of us who own a classic model from Porsche to have the protection that will help ensure cars aren’t stolen. This could become an app-based system that can be used for a variety of other brands as well to make sure the classic ride you own is protected and not traveling anywhere without your permission or knowledge.
