The upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 isn’t yet at your Hyundai dealership, but when it arrives, it will compete with the Kia EV9, which is under the same parent company. Both electric SUVs promise cutting-edge technology, futuristic designs, and exceptional range. With the EV market booming, the Hyundai Ioniq 7 and Kia EV9 are pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations.
Both Models Stand Out From the Crowd
Both the Ioniq 7 and the EV9 are similar in that they stand out from the competition. The Kia EV9 sports a futuristic exterior design with accent lighting, a digital grille, a sleek profile, and striking wheel arches. The Ioniq 7 features an aerodynamic design with pixel lights in the front and a streamlined rear. Both models get around 300 miles of range.
The Ioniq 7 uses Hyundai’s E-GMP platform and it might include a silicon-carbide power module for extra energy efficiency and range. The EV9 features an innovative rear seat system that allows those with mobility issues to get in and out more easily, while the Ioniq 7 offers a spacious cabin with flexible seating options.
Both models will come with a generous complement of advanced safety features, and the EV9 is expected to have a higher price range than the Ioniq, starting at around $56,000.

For the casual observer looking at the Kia EV9, the incredible aesthetics immediately catch the eye. The exterior and interior of the EV9 are distinctly Sci-Fi-inspired, exuding a futuristic vibe that takes over the entire vehicle. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the 2024 EV9 will likely redefine future EV designs.
The Hyundai Ioniq 7’s exterior won’t necessarily turn heads on the Hyundai dealership lot quite like the EV9, but it does have a sleek design built for aerodynamics and efficiency. The boldest part of the Ioniq 7’s design is its streamlined tailgate with a light bar across the bottom and a curved light around the edges.
Ioniq 7 Trims Remain a Mystery
So far we know that the Kia EV9 will offer three powertrain options. The base trim is the Standard RWD with a single electric motor that makes 215 horsepower. The Long Range trim also uses RWD but with less horsepower at 201. The AWD trim will offer two electric motors to make 379 horsepower. A Kia EV9 GT-Line is also in the works for 2025, and that one will make up to 576 horsepower.
The Ioniq 7 trim levels remain a mystery, however. Experts expect something similar to the Ioniq 5, which means an SE, SEL, and Limited trim. It should come with either a single or dual-motor powertrain and is expected to make 320 horsepower. The Ioniq 7 is highly anticipated, but official figures and specs aren’t available yet.
Even though it’s not known when the Hyundai Ioniq 7 will hit Hyundai dealerships, the model is Hyundai’s largest EV to date, and it features a wheelbase even longer than the Hyundai Palisade. This allows it to offer what is being described as a game-changing cabin with tons of space.
