The Highlander requires a slightly more powerful 2.4L intercooled turbo I-4 engine to move it down the road. Coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, it puts out 265 HP and 310 lb-ft of torque. That’s plenty to play with for the typical SUV driver.
Both the Equinox and the Highlander come standard with FWD, but each can be upgraded to AWD. The Chevy Equinox and Toyota Highlander also feature traction and stability control modules.
