Power, more power, and now insane power are how you can describe the development and evolution of the new 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1.
The Corvette name is a pure icon of the sports car world. This car has been one of the most incredible cars in the world. In most versions, this Chevy is an attainable supercar that can be driven by blue-collar Americans, which makes it a popular car with most enthusiasts. Of course, the Corvette must also attain its supercar status, which it does in higher forms, including the new ZR1.
ZR1 has always meant power
The first time Chevy used the ZR1 designation for the Corvette was back in 1990. This name became well-known with the highest-powered and most incredible version of the car to hit the road. We haven’t had a ZR1 model during the C8 generation of this car yet, but now we do. Going into 2025, this moniker is attached to the most powerful and impressive versions of this sports car to hit the road. This new model generates 1064 horsepower, which blows the doors off of the C7 ZR1 model that sent 772 horsepower to the wheels.
A new engine designation
Some might think the ZR1 would be nothing more than a tuned-up version of the Z06, but that’s not the case. The New 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 has a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that has enough updated hardware and changes to earn a new LT7 designation for the engine. This flat-plane-crank design is expected in the Corvette, and this model generates insane power figures at 1064 horsepower.
The new engine build features two turbochargers, but there’s a lot more going on here. The new LT7 engine has a new intake system, a secondary port fuel-injection system, and a set of unique pistons and connecting rods. These upgrades translate to a lot more power for an exciting new supercar.
Some changes to the body and build
The ZR1 is a little different than other Corvette models. This new model has a flow-through hood that improves cooling and front downforce, which doubly benefits the car during the drive. carbon-fiber side ducts have also been added to keep the rear brakes cooler, while roof-mounted ducts keep the turbos cooler while driving.
Standard ZR1 models wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires wrapped around the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. The ZTK Performance package adds stiffer springs, Polit Sport Cup 2R tires, a high-downforce rear wing, and a few other aero items to make this car even more aggressive.
How fast is this car?
This is the biggest question still surrounding the new 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1. As a new version of the Corvette, we don’t have all the times yet, but Chevy says this car should finish a quarter-mile in less than ten seconds. It will be interesting to learn the 0-60 mph time and top speed. This Corvette has a 394-horsepower advantage over the Z06 model, which boasts a 2.6-second sprint time to 60 mph.
An expected cabin build in the ZR1
The formula for the cabin build follows the same pattern as other Corvette models. This means you’ll see the same squared-off steering wheel in front of a 12.0-inch gauge cluster that shows the information you want to enjoy. This cluster now has a turbo-boost gauge to read the turbos for the driver. There’s a large infotainment touchscreen angled toward the driver, while a row of buttons are on top of the console to give you the desired settings and controls. Expect to see ZR1 badging in some areas to give this car the desired look.
Instant massive torque for the drive
We didn’t mention the torque figures with the horsepower, and for good reason. The new 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 has an amazing torque figure worthy of its own mention. The top number is 828 lb-ft, making this car jump off the line. The first 800 lb-ft of that torque is available at only 3000 rpm, which is amazing. This torque is read during the first two transmission gears, which makes it easy to punch the accelerator and let this incredible car fly down a track.
How good is this Corvette?
This new Corvette is the most powerful version made and can easily take on and beat most European supercars. In fact, most of the supercars that boast higher power figures have some form of electrification helping them. The new 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is ready to dominate the automotive world, and it certainly has the chops to do so.
