Many buyers are sad to see the sedan disappear, which has led to a surge of interest in classic models. A recent rendering of the Chevrolet Bel Air has sparked interest.
Muscle Car Aesthetic
The new design shows a muscle car aesthetic with a large trapezoid grille front and center. The Chevy Bel Air was a full-size car made between 1950 and 1975. It came in various layouts, including a two-door coupe, a station wagon, and a four-door sedan. In 2002, an attempt was made to bring it back with a concept car in the form of a two-door convertible. That never panned out, but the most recent rendering of the Chevy Bel Air is a modern four-door sedan with beefy muscle car looks and a bold grille.
Comparing Designs
The old four-door sedan design of the Bel Air was what you would expect from a model in the era between 1950 and 1975. Toward the end of its run, the four-door Bel Air was a large car with a straight and angular design. The new rendering of the Bel Air shows a sleek profile with a wide stance and a low roofline. The mesh-pattern grille is aggressive and offset by narrow headlights. Compared to the classic angular shape of the Bel Air, this new car has a distinctly modern look while still holding to its muscle car heritage.
Chrome Accents and Air Intakes
There isn’t much about the new Bel Air that resembles the models of old. It features air intakes on the side and bottom with a mesh pattern. The intakes are arranged diagonally to highlight the Bel Air’s sharp profile. Chrome accents accentuate the car’s lines for a luxurious touch. The front bumper features a bold design and the headlights have been designed for a slim look and a sharp extension to the side. However, the distinct line connecting the center of the hood to the side does reflect the classic model’s characteristic appearance.
Sleek Roofline Fastback Design
One distinct element of this new rendering is the fastback design where the roofline gently connects from the A-pillar. This gives the new Bel Air a sleek and sporty appearance. The rear also features a ducktail spoiler and horizontally extended tail lights. The tail lights look similar to the front lights with a narrow profile.
It’s yet to be known when this car will make it to your Chevrolet dealer, but the rumors definitely have fans excited.
