Entering the third generation for the Audi TT and TTS gives us a new model of a car that is one of the most affordable luxury sports roadsters on the market. It may have room for four, but the backseat is better left for a bag or two than to put actually people in it, but this is a great car for taking a date out or showing off for your friends on the track. You can take this car and whip it around twists and turns on the road and all it will do is beg you to give it more.
What can we say about the style of the TT? This is truly a European styled car that offers you the look and feel you want of a small car that is easy to drive on the road. The upgraded style of this car changes the character lines; the front and rear look and adds more interest to most of the bodywork. The flatter grill up front has a pair of slim LED and xenon headlights to its flanks while the rear lights add some more impressive LED lights to give the rear a higher degree of luxury style. To finish off the look in the rear, which is what you expect to show many drivers around you, is a pair of exhaust pipes which are tipped in chrome on the TTS model.
Because this is a car that is made to be efficient, come in the right size to drive and is a lot of fun on the road the engines used give the right balance between power and efficiency. There are three 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines that use direct injection to give the output desired. The new TT comes in with 227 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque while the TTS increases this number to bring in 306 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft. of torque. In Europe a turbodiesel engine will be offered that brings in 181 horsepower and 281 lb.-ft. of torque to be the most efficient model of the three. These engines are expected to be attached to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and all three will have the improved Quattro AWD to make the drive easier and give you the control you want.
Using and upgraded chassis the TT becomes a much better sports car than it already was. There are improvements all around for the steering, control, power and the suspension which now uses the Audi magnetic ride adjustable damping which makes the car feel smooth and planted on the road. The TT gives you a multiple mode selector to choose the way the car will drive for you. The modes on this selector are comfort, auto, dynamic, efficiency and individual. The last one allows you to create your own driving system and settings that you prefer, which is only needed if none of the other driving modes suit your particular driving style.
One of the most impressive improvements of the TT is the larger cabin. This cabin has been redone completely and embraces the new virtual cockpit design. The 12.3-inch configurable digital touchscreen gives you the views of different instruments to allow you the look you want. This screen does integrate with the MultiMeida Interface controller that gives you all the control you need in one dial. Sport seats are included along with several highly attractive trim elements for you to enjoy. You can have the MMI navigation system and add a Wi-Fi hotspot to the car along with a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system to have the entertainment you want.
Is the TT the car you want to drive? As a great little sportster that can carve up the road and come in at a price you can afford this could be the perfect choice for you. Let the TT or TTS be the luxury sports car you want to drive on a daily basis as this car does not need to be saved for the track. Instead let it loos and find the ling way home from work more often than the short way so you can let it run wild and free on the variety of backroads in your area; allowing you to arrive home with a huge smile on your face.
