Sometimes it’s hard to justify purchasing a vehicle that offers you driving excitement when you’re raising a family. This is the time when you feel you’re supposed to be relegated to driving minivans, SUVs or boring large family sedans. To do this you’d have to give up some of what you used to love about driving, and your family is certainly worth that small sacrifice, but wouldn’t it be great if there was a vehicle that balanced this out for you? Thankfully for you there is such a vehicle and it’s available to you right from your nearby Mazda dealer.
The Mazda6 is one of the most admired midsized sedans on the market today. Not because it’s the most sold, not because it has the best menu of features, not even because it’s the most efficient. It’s admired because of the driving dynamics offered in this car which make you feel excited and alive in a vehicle that is practical and fits the whole family. Forget setting for anything else, the Mazda6 has what you need to have the drive you want and the space your family needs and deserves, giving you the best of both worlds and a daily driver that will have your looking to take the long way to work.
The Mazda6 can be a compliant daily driver that gets in line with the rest during its regular driving mode, but when you find the open road ahead of you, switch on that Sport mode and let the car have some fun. This car offers a steering and suspension setup that will let you zip through a corner, zoom around a curve and race down a straightaway all in hopes that there aren’t any law enforcement officials in the area. This is a car that you can have a lot of fun driving and still feel responsible.
The Mazda6 only offers you one engine under the hood, a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder model. Using the Skyactiv transmissions that are both six speed (one automatic and one manual) this car uses every bit of the 184 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque available to you, giving you the exhilaration of driving once again. With the manual transmission the fuel mileage is 24 city/34 hwy mpg and it moves up to 26 city/35 hwy mpg for the automatic. When you add in the i-Eloop technology you do receive fuel numbers of 27 city/35 hwy mpg.
There are three trim levels for the Mazda6; Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. The Sport model is the base level and it offers you keyless entry, push button starting, cruise control, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, the Mazda Connect infotainment system with a seven-inch color touchscreen display, a rearview camera, a six-speaker audio system, USB and auxiliary ports and Bluetooth streaming. the Touring model adds leatherette upholstery, dual zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, 19-inch wheels, automatic on/ off headlights, rain sensing wipers, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alerts and the Smart City Brake Support. The Grand Touring model received a navigation system, the Bose audio system, radar based cruise control, perforated leather upholstery, a power passenger seat, paddle shifters and an illuminated grill as standard items.
Upgrading the Mazda6 can be a lot of fun and you can have a Touring model with heated front seats, a moonroof, an 11-speaker Bose audio system and LED headlights. Upgrading the Grand Touring model includes being able to add lane keeping assistance, high beam controls and a memory seat adjustment. You can also add the Premium package with adds the i-Eloop regenerative braking system, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather seats and cabin lighting.
When you start at the base model you can see that the Mazda6 is an extremely affordable vehicle to begin with. The base price is $22,780 for the Sport model with the manual transmission and the Touring model will begin at a little more than $25,000. The automatic transmission will add $1,050 to the price of either trim and the Grand Touring begins at $31,500 and can reach up to a little more than $34,000 with all the added features.
