Most of the time we compare two SUVs from different automakers that are part of the exact same class to show you why one is better than the other. Today we’re going to look at two which come from the same company so you can decide if you need more space or more agility. The two we will look at are the Hyundai Tucson and the Hyundai Santa Fe which are both impressive in their own right. The Tucson is the compact SUV that can give you what you need and bring you an agile ride while the Santa Fe can be the perfect vehicle for you to enjoy the ride with more space for the family to ride along.
Starting with the Tucson you have a quiet cabin, a large and spacious back seat, a high safety rating and materials that are easy to enjoy on the road. For 2017 this SUV has added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the mix to give you the connectivity you want. This SUV has been rated in the top three for the class of the Tucson, giving you a fantastic compact SUV to drive and enjoy on the road.
The price for the Tucson is much lower than the Santa Fe and it’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain brings you 164 horsepower to give you enough power to get the job done. You can also choose the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that makes 175 ponies and a bit better gas mileage. This little SUV can provide you as much as 30 mpg on the highway in the base model or 32 mpg when the turbo is carrying the load. Overall, the Tucson is a great little SUV to enjoy when you know you’ll never need more than five seats.
At the larger end of the Hyundai market, the Santa Fe offers you a vehicle that’s been rated in the top half of the midsized SUVs on the market and brings you the ten-year powertrain warranty along with a strong V6 engine, a 5,000 pound towing capacity and room to carry some of the gear you need. For 2017 this SUV offer you a refreshed appearance and adds Android Auto along with some impressive electronic safety and driver assistance items to give you the added comfort and engagement you need on the road.
The Santa Fe offers you two more seats than the Tucson and it comes with an expanded engine lineup for you. This SUV starts out with a 3.3-liter V6 engine or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder which is the standard offering or you can enjoy the power of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. This gives you an impressive way to choose the engine you want and have the power you need to get things done. This is the SUV that provides you the comfort and quality ride you need to have a great drive and the ability to pull a trailer of up to 5,000 pounds behind this vehicle when you have the V6 under the hood.
The question for you when it comes to this comparison is for you to decide how much space you need. The Tucson is a little more affordable and offers you the ride quality you need with a bit more agility than the Santa Fe, but the Santa Fe offers you two more seats and tons of ways to set it up for the rugged work you need done. Both are capable people haulers, it just depends upon what you want to drive which one you should buy.
