What Exactly Is a Classic Car?
Before we go into a list of used cars that will turn into classics, it might be a good idea to define exactly what a classic car is. For the most part, a classic car is at least 20 years old, but it’s not older than 40 years. It also should be the original design and specs, meaning that any restorations need to stay within the way the car was originally constructed.
Now, if you find a modern classic, you should look at used cars that are beyond the Muscle Car era, which places you in the late 80’s. Cars that will be turning classics this year, are in the early to mid 2000’s and are still as desirable now as they were the day they rolled off the production line.
The 2004 Acura NSX
Early Acura NSX models are easily recognizable because of their all-black roof, but they are legendary because of their power and performance. It was first introduced in 1991 and ran until 2005. The advanced aerodynamics and style were inspired by an F-15 fighter jet cockpit. The first NSX models have a 3.0-liter V-6 engine with Honda’s VTEC system. In 2002, a larger 3.2-liter V-6 was put under the hood until production ended in 2005. The NSX is not one of your average used cars. Some of the prices for this classic and soon to become classic can be up to and over $70,000.
The Nissan GT-R
The Nissan GT-R nameplate has been around for a long time, but the version that will soon become a classic comes right off the PlayStation video game screen. The Grand Turismo seemed to jump from inside the console to Nissan dealership lots. The R35 GT-5 has a 3.8-liter V-6 engine under the hood that according to Nissan produced 480 horsepower, but the actual number is more like 500 horses. Find one of these uses cars and you can get behind the wheel of a classic that will take you from zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds.
The Honda S2000
The Honda S2000 got its name from the 2000-cc engine that came under the hood when it was first introduced. Some call this one of the best driver’s cars you can find, and it gets power from one of the best engines ever built. The 2004 model received a major revision which included bumping the displacement to 2.2 and upgrading the gearbox to make it smoother.
