According to an annual survey by iSeeCars, the Ford F-350 Super Duty is the most dependable truck – and vehicle in general – with the ability to reach or surpass 250,000 miles.
What does this mean for the Super Duty compared to other vehicles in and out of its class? How was the list determined, and what do we know about the Super Duty that can explain its new title?
The iSeeCars Survey
With advancements in vehicle technology, cars have gone from a lifespan of 100,000 to 200,000 miles – and now, over 250,000. Knowing this, iSeeCars has analyzed vehicles made from 2012 to 2022 to determine which are most likely to survive these high mile standards.
iSeeCars’ 2023 survey of longest-lasting trucks, cars, and SUVs has determined that 23 models have a 20% or higher chance of lasting 250,000 or more miles – with some having close to a 50/50 chance of reaching or surpassing the milestone number.
While that doesn’t sound like much, evidence suggests that the average vehicle has a less than 12% chance of reaching 250,000 miles – that’s what makes this growing list so extraordinary.
Of the 23 longest-lasting vehicles on the current list, 10 of them are pickup trucks. It’s unsurprising, given a truck’s need to take on the harshest work and environmental conditions, but still impressive.
At the top of both the pickup truck and general lists is the Ford F-350 Super Duty.
What Chance Does the F-350 Super Duty Have of Reaching 250,000 Miles? How Dependable is it?
The Ford F-350 Super Duty has a 49.1% chance of lasting 250,000 miles or longer in its lifetime – it’s over four times more likely to do so than the average vehicle.
In addition, the Super Duty is made of sturdy material, with strong tires and plenty of power, making it a highly durable truck. Having this truck last a long time isn’t a matter of not using it; it’s just a matter of taking proper care of it even when it’s doing the toughest hauling jobs.
Combine the F-350’s durability with extra creature comforts and safety features like 8-way power driver seats and front and reverse sensing systems, and you’ve got a truck that feels like it can last forever.
While nine other trucks are on iSeeCars’ list, none of them can beat the F-350 – the Toyota Tundra comes closest with 1.8 times the average truck’s chance of lasting 250,000 miles.
