Unfortunately, for Dodge, this means saying goodbye to the wildly popular Charger and Challenger and giving them the send-off they deserve. That is exactly what Dodge does with the all new “Last Call” Challenger.
The Dodge Challenger has been a well-loved and well-respected muscle car across the nation. Equipped with powerful V8 engines, impeccable power, and undeniable aesthetic appeal, the Dodge Challenger grew to be a well-respected and surprisingly affordable sports vehicle for drivers itching for speed and power.
When production started in 1969, the Challenger quickly grew to be a symbol of performance, sports appeal, and automotive machinery at its finest. As Dodge prepares to retire the challenger, they’ve unveiled a special “Last Call” model which aims to give the Challenger a well deserved send off. While the gas powered sports beast is set to retire, Dodge plans on introducing an electric variation to replace it.
Last Call Challenger Set to Be the Most Powerful
The special Last Call model is set to be the most powerful challenge yet. The Challenger SRT Demon 170 delivers a mind-boggling 1,025 horsepower and an unheard-of 945 pound-ft of torque. Touting a supercharged 6.2 L V8 engine, the Demon runs on E85 gasoline.
With all this power coursing through its veins, Dodge touts that the Demon can get up to a quarter mile in 8.91 seconds, zipping at 151 horsepower and hitting 60 MPH in an estimated 1.66 seconds. If you choose to order one of these bad boys from your local Dodge dealer, don’t be surprised when you come across the option to add in a parachute to your Demon purchase.
Handling all this power is reinforced and re-enhanced hardware that allows the Demon to reach and maintain these absurd speeds. Dodge has fortified the driveline and has made the driveshaft 30% stronger with the rear axle 53% stronger. Pinion gears and a larger ring in the differential improve the strength while an improved transmission brake ensures that braking is just as responsive.
Impressive Power Comes at a Steep Price
Heading over to your local Dodge dealer to order your very own Last Call Challenger will come with a pretty penny. The Demon 170 will start at just over $100,000 dollars, with extra add-ons, upgrades, and enhancement costing more. The top-of-the-line upgrade, coming in at $11,495 is the two-piece wheels made of aluminum and carbon fiber. Touting the same design as the base model, these aluminum and carbon fiber wheels do save you a combined 25 pounds. There will also be an available Street Tire package for drivers who plan on taking exhaustive road trips. Additionally, optional Napa leather seating and front bucket seats will also be included for an upgrade.
Dodge plans to offer up to 3000 models for sale in the U.S. Meanwhile, drivers in Canada will have an estimated 300 models available. Production is set to start this July and end in December.
