Power and Performance

All models come with all-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain, with the entry-level XLE and mid-level Limited models using a 2.5-liter four-cylinder. Toyota estimates it will produce around 236 horsepower between the dual front electric motors and gas engine and the separate electric motor that powers the rear axle, with a fuel economy of up to 38 mpg combined.
The range-topping Platinum model is geared towards sportiness, with a new 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission, and a larger rear-axle motor, delivering 340 horsepower and around 400 lb-ft of torque. The Platinum also features a Sport+ drive mode and paddle shifters for its automatic transmission.
Worth the Risk?
Toyota saw the declining trend in full-size sedan sales and decided to take a risk by creating a unique blend of a sedan and an SUV. The question is whether or not this gamble will pay off.
