Music Wherever You Go: The JBL Flex Speaker in the 2024 Toyota Tacoma

Another truck gives you a removable speaker that can easily be moved to where you want to go. The 2024 Toyota Tacoma has a new JBL Flex removable speaker.

Over the past several years, the Tacoma has become the incredible midsize truck made for driving out on the trails for some wonderful fun. The TRD Pro is the trim of choice for hardcore off-roaders, but there’s a configuration for nearly every driver. In fact, Toyota has claimed the current Tacoma comes in nearly thirty different builds to give you the features and qualities you want to enjoy.

The speaker isn’t the only new feature

Toyota brings an entirely new build and design for this 2024 midsize truck. The new Bluetooth speaker isn’t all you’ll find, but it gives you a great way to move your music and set up a campsite filled with your favorite tunes. Other cool things we know are coming in this new Tacoma include disc brakes for the rear wheels in the TRD Pro model, a set of adjustable Fox shocks for off-road fun, and a new TrailHunter trim which could be amazing.

Will this new Tacoma be electrified?

Toyota has made a strong move toward electrification with hybrid powertrains offered in the Tundra and Sequoia. We expect the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma to also include a new hybrid powertrain, which could be a smaller version of the hybrid systems in the larger models. Rumors have swirled of the Tacoma going all-electric, but we’re not sure it will be electrified for the 2024 model year. Toyota is slowly entering the EV game, the new bZ4X is its first EV model, but that doesn’t mean the brand is ready to fully commit to an EV lineup.

New platform, upgraded interior from Toyota

Toyota hasn’t cracked the proverbial cheat code for the full-size Tundra, but the Tacoma has been the top-selling midsize pickup for many years. This new 2024 version will feature a new body-on-frame platform that includes a more sophisticated coil-spring rear suspension and vastly improved interior. Unfortunately, we don’t have any details relating to the cabin area of this new pickup truck yet. When they arrive, we’ll be glad to share the details, but we’re still unsure of some specific upgrades. Toyota likes to tease us like that, and they’re doing it very well.

Where will the TrailHunter trim fit in?

Toyota showed off a new Tacoma TrailHunter with the compass rose badge that signifies this new trim name. Does this mean Toyota will offer a top-end off-road truck to compete with the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 or GMC Canyon AT4X? Although it would be pretty cool to see a Toyota with more off-road gear than the TRD Pro, it’s more likely the TrailHunter trim will fit between the TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road models. If this new trim is for overlanding, the new JBL removable speaker will be more useful and important during your long trips into the wilderness.

What makes us think the TrailHunter is an overlanding trim? The first hint came at last year’s SEMA show, where this name was offered as a concept version of the Tacoma. The second hint is the new ARB bumper that we expect to find on this new truck. These two items make it pretty easy to think of this new trim being made for overlanding and not a hardcore, off-road competitor for the top versions of the GM pickup trucks. Regardless, adding the TrailHunter trim gives the Tacoma three off-road models, which makes it fit in with the four American midsize trucks that each have three off-roading trims.

Which powertrain is most likely to find it way into the new Tacoma?

We’re pretty sure the new Toyota Tacoma won’t have the same six-cylinder hybrid engine from the Tundra. Instead, it’s more likely this new truck could bring us the hybrid powertrain from the Lexus NX350. This system is a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a hybrid motor that makes 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.

Until Toyota gives us more information, we won’t have much else to discuss with this new Tacoma. The latest news is the removable JBL Bluetooth speaker that can turn your outdoor adventures into a wonderful musical experience. Get ready for some fun and great tunes while you’re in the wilderness with your new 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Will this new Taco truck be the pickup you love to drive?
