Kia’s Record July Sales Recap for 2026

Kia's Record July Sales Recap for 2026

Kia keeps knocking down its own sales records, and July handed the Korean brand another one. The company moved 75,857 vehicles in the US last month, its strongest July on record, with the Sportage out front and the Carnival minivan quietly turning in one of the biggest jumps of the whole lineup.

  • Kia sold 75,857 vehicles in July 2026, up about 7 percent year over year
  • The Sportage, Telluride, Seltos, K4, and Carnival all set best-ever July marks
  • Hybrid sales more than doubled while the EV lineup slipped

A Record Month Built on SUVs

July was a good month across most of the showroom. Kia’s 75,857 deliveries beat last July by roughly 7 percent, and the running total for 2026 sits at 506,584 units through seven months. That’s a 4 percent gain over the same stretch last year, and it keeps Kia on pace for a fourth straight annual sales record in the US.

The Sportage did the heavy lifting, as it usually does. The compact SUV racked up 16,083 sales, an 11.7 percent bump that made it the brand’s top seller for the month. Behind it, the K4 and Forte combined for 12,094, and the three-row Telluride landed at 11,816, up 13.5 percent. The Sorento added 9,038 of its own. Even shoppers hunting for a used Kia Sportage have plenty to like, since strong new-model demand tends to keep the resale market healthy too.

The Seltos and Carnival Steal the Spotlight

Two numbers really stood out. The Seltos posted 8,807 sales, a wild 79.1 percent climb over last July, helped along by a redesign that pushes the little crossover a bit more upscale. And then there’s the Carnival.

Kia’s minivan moved 7,279 copies last month, a 22.8 percent leap that put it within arm’s reach of its all-time monthly best of 7,362 units, set back in November 2025. That’s a big deal for a body style plenty of people wrote off years ago. A recent study points to millennials driving a minivan comeback, drawn to the space and value that a similarly priced SUV can’t quite match. Kia’s July figures line up neatly with that idea.

The current Carnival arrived for the 2020 model year and reached US buyers for 2022. A refresh in late 2023 brought a sharper look and, more importantly, a hybrid option for the 2025 model year. Pricing now spans from $37,490 to $53,590, with a choice between a 3.5-liter V6 and a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid setup.

Hybrids Up, EVs Down

The electrified side of the ledger told two very different stories. Kia’s total hybrid sales jumped 108 percent compared with last July, and the Sportage Hybrid led that charge with 76 percent growth. The Sorento Hybrid and Carnival Hybrid each added a steady 16 percent.

Pure electrics had a rougher go. EV6 deliveries nearly halved to 674 units, dropping its year-to-date figure to 4,717. The larger EV9 held up better, dipping just 5 percent to 1,650 for the month while still running well ahead of last year’s pace at 8,685 through July. So while the EV story cooled off, hybrids more than picked up the slack, which is a big reason the overall month looked so strong.

What Kia’s Numbers Say About the Rest of 2026

Momentum like this doesn’t usually stop on a dime. With a fresh Seltos already lifting volume and the entry-level EV3 crossover due later this year, Kia has more launches lined up to keep the streak going. The bigger point for shoppers is simple. A brand selling this many SUVs and minivans is a brand that keeps sharpening its lineup, and that competition tends to work in a buyer’s favor. If you’ve been eyeing a Sportage, a Telluride, or that increasingly popular Carnival, July’s numbers suggest you’re in good company, and you’ve got real choices whether you’re shopping new or looking at a gently used one.
